Madrid, January 8, 2023. – The smart building project ‘Smart Building Terrassa: Buildings build the digital city’, in which IoTsens has participated as a technology partner, has been chosen as ‘Best Project 2023’ in the state awards EnerTIC Awards 2023 among more than 100 initiatives presented in this edition by companies such as Cepsa, Repsol, Indra, Mercedes-Benz or Naturgy.

Smart Building Terrassa’ involves the implementation of actions related to smart city management and actions with a direct impact on the citizen. This is achieved by converting the 169 buildings proposed by the City Council into smart buildings through their sensorization and the implementation of Internet of Things nodes for the centralization and transfer of data from smart devices to the City Platform. Among the variables monitored in these buildings are energy, water and gas consumption, weather and air quality conditions, noise level, structural health of the buildings, intelligent access control, among many others.

With these data, it will be possible to carry out actions to reduce consumption in buildings by around 20-25 % of current consumption with the direct consequence of a reduction of more than 300,000 kg of CO₂ in the year.

For all these reasons, the new edition of these awards has not only recognized this project as the ‘Best Project 2023’ but has also been awarded in the category of ‘Smarts Buildings’ for innovation and improvement of energy competitiveness through digitization.

The most innovative systems within the project include automatic learning and recognition based on artificial intelligence, monitoring of the light intensity of the night sky, adapted public information points, an APP for the guidance of visually impaired people or the detection of forest fires by cameras.

The XI edition of the enerTIC Awards has recognized the work of companies and executives committed to improving energy efficiency, the promotion of technology and sustainability in an award ceremony that took place at the headquarters of the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (Madrid).

ENERTIC is a platform with more than 100 associated companies whose objective is to improve energy efficiency in Spain through the dissemination and promotion of Information Technologies. Among the associated companies are Endesa, Accenture, Telefónica, Huawei, Minsait, Vodafone and Naturgy.
