IoTsens uses communication networks as Sigfox, wireless networks to connect low-energy objects such as the sensors, which need to be continuously on and emitting small amounts of data. The SIGFOX network is highly scalable and built for a high volume of devices. It provides two-way communications with devices and is able to integrate with software applications.


LoRa is a wireless modulation format developed by a French company called Semtech, for long-range and low-data-rate applications intended for wireless battery operated in regional, national or global network. LoRa target key requirements of internet of things such as secure bi-directional communication, mobility and localization services. This standard will provide seamless interoperability among smart Things without the need of complex local installations and gives back the freedom to the user, developer, businesses enabling the roll out of Internet of Things.


IoTsens devices will be connected to the local area wireless computer networking technology.


M2M connectivity uses machine to machine (M2M) based mobile connectivity (data, SMS and voice) to link machines to one another in order to improve operating processes (distribution, logistics, etc.) and business technology. IoTsens can use this technology to recollect data and send it to the platform.


Zigbee is a good technology for in house perimeter applications using low-power wireless mesh networks in the 2.4GHz band for everything from embedded sensors, medical profiling and, of course, home automation processes.

Zigbee devices are specifically low-power to enable a wide variety of applications, and Zigbee qualified mobile devices must have at least two years of battery life in order to qualify. Zigbee can support up to 65,000 devices and its average data rate is 250Kbps.


Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard for exchanging data over short distances from fixed and mobile devices and building personal area networks (PANs). It can connect several devices, overcoming problems of synchronization.

Bluetooth is not the best technology to use in sensors since it needs complex pairing mechanisms between the gateway and the end point that creates a negative user experience. Moreover, the transmission power is not optimized for battery operated devices. The range is normally limited to the room’s perimeter.


Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) is a standards-based Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) technology. It has been developed to enable a large range of new IoT devices and services. It connects devices in a simpler and more efficient way. NB-IoT significantly improves the system capacity and spectrum efficiency, especially in deep coverage and also power consumption of user devices.
